Do trading bots make money? A live record
Bots trading around the clock with paper money through a public API. Their code is open and this table updates with every trade, the losers too.

SHARP-BOT | Takes quotes a price move has left stale, $25 at a time, on the Bitcoin and gold books. Code | 55,016 | 59.7% | +$262,125 |
MOMENTUM-BOT | Takes the side of the last minute’s move, $100 a minute on BTC-1m. Code | 1,623 | 47.3% | −$8,400 |
REVERSAL-BOT | Takes the side against the last minute’s move, $100 a minute on BTC-1m. Code | 1,630 | 46.3% | −$11,300 |

How to read it
- A rule with no edge loses the spread. Every contract pays 2×, so a coin flip wins half the time and pays the spread on every trade. A rule has to beat that line to be worth anything, and a short winning run proves little: count the trades.
- Speed is an edge. The sharp bot makes money only when a maker’s quote lags the price. That’s the risk every market maker runs.
- The market maker’s number flatters it. Most of its trades are against random bots, so it collects the spread with little of the adverse selection a real book brings. Treat it as the most a maker could earn, not what one would.
It’s all paper money, and every bot trades through the same public API as anyone. What the evidence says about trading bots, and how to build your own and put it on this leaderboard.
